Glossary: Types of visual effects editing

Hi! In this time our teacher ask us to make a glossary of 8 words related to media.


We are gonna explain different t
ypes of visual effects editing.


Fade in
This effect is used when an image moves from color black or any solid color to a sharp image.


Fade Out
This effect is used when moving a sharp image to a black or solid color progressively.


Dissolve
It is used to create continuity in different scenes. The effect is that an image is slowly disappearing and another image being displayed in place.


Wipe
It is a way to change planes without fading, an image out of the screen and then another comes into picture, this can be in either direction: straight, diagonal, central or stripes.


Cutaway
This effect editing is to use a picture then change it to a different. But this second picture should have sense of history and otrogue some context to the narrative and then return to the initial picture.


Superimpose
Two images are placed one above the other, with transparency so that the two can be distinguished on the screen. They can be pictures belonging to the same time or totally opposite but that give the story additional data about character.

 























Jump-Cut
This cut makes the effect with a different images of subject, followed by putting these planes gives the effect that the subject has jump in time or place.


Split Screen
This effect is to divide the screen into multiple frames and each of these place an image without any of them touch.
